What to have ready
Seven details that turn a conversation into an opinion
A feasibility opinion depends on facts about your programme, not on how well you describe your topic. Put the ones you have in the enquiry's free-text box, keep the rest for the call, and the first reply can be specific instead of exploratory.
- Course and year
- MD, MS, DNB, DrNB, DM, MCh, MDS or an international equivalent, and which year you are in. It decides which set of rules your thesis is held to before anything else is discussed.[1]
- Specialty
- So your enquiry is read by a teacher from your own field rather than by a generalist. A feasibility opinion is only worth having if the person giving it has run your kind of study.
- University or board
- Your university's own ordinance sets the format, the page limit and the similarity threshold, and it takes precedence wherever it is stricter than the national rule. For DNB and DrNB trainees the board's own guidelines apply instead.[2]
- The date you joined
- Your statutory clock starts from it, not from the day you begin writing. For DNB and DrNB that is the protocol within 180 days of joining and the thesis by 26 months, so the joining date fixes every milestone after it.[2]
- The deadline you are working to
- The real one: the synopsis date your department has given you, or the submission date on your university calendar. If two dates are in play, send both and say which one you have been told is firm.
- Where you currently stand
- Topic chosen or still open, synopsis written, ethics packet drafted, data being collected, chapters started. The honest position is more useful than the tidy one, and nobody here is surprised by a thesis that has not moved in a year.
- Whether ethics approval exists
- Institutional Ethics Committee approval has to precede data collection, and we will not begin analysis on a dataset collected before it was granted. Telling us early is what lets us propose a design you can actually get approved.[5]
If you do not have all seven, send the enquiry anyway. Most of a first call is otherwise spent establishing exactly these, and the doctor would rather spend it on your design. Nothing here is a test, and an enquiry is not scored.
Please do not send patient-identifiable data, a master chart or a hospital record at this stage. None of it is needed for a feasibility opinion, and your ethics approval governs where that material may go.[5]

What happens next
Four steps, and you can stop at any of them
Stated plainly, so there is no guessing about what you have just started. None of it is a sales sequence, and nothing is charged before you choose a service.
It reaches the practice
Your enquiry goes to the practice and nowhere else. It is not passed to a sales desk, your details are not sold or shared, and you are not added to a mailing list.
A senior doctor from your specialty reads it
A practising postgraduate teacher, not an account manager. They look at feasibility first: whether the study can be done where you are, in the time you have, with the patients and the equipment you actually have access to.
You get an opinion, and a call if you want one
The opinion comes back in writing within one working day. If a conversation would help, we schedule it inside support hours and in your own time zone. Neither is charged for, and neither commits you to anything.
If you go ahead, the record opens
Your record opens with its 15 stages, each carrying a date and a named owner, and the fee is the published one for the service you choose — the schedule is here, in your own currency.[6]
Some enquiries end with us saying no. A topic that cannot be finished in the months you have left, a dataset collected before approval, or a request to write the thesis itself: we decline those, and we say why rather than quoting a policy at you. What we refuse to do is published, so you can read it before you write to us.

How your enquiry, and later your drafts, are handled
You are about to type your name, your college and your deadline into a form. This is what happens to that, and to the thesis material that follows it.
The enquiry is stored in the practice's own system and read by the people who would work on your thesis. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to a third party for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list. The privacy policy states what is kept and for how long, and the terms state what we undertake once you engage us.
Once work begins, the same discipline applies to the thesis itself: your record is readable only by you and the people on it, each draft is streamed to a view-only viewer watermarked with your own name, and you remain its sole author throughout.[4]
