How matching works

How you are matched to a mentor

There is no algorithm here and no pool of anonymous experts. A person reads what you are trying to do, then names the mentor we would put on it and tells you who they are.

You tell us the specifics
Course, specialty, university or board, when your session started and the date you are working to. Fifteen minutes on a call. No account, no payment and no obligation at this point.
We look for a mentor in your own field
What we look for is a postgraduate teacher in that specialty who guides theses inside their own department, knows what your examiners read for, and has room for another project this session.
We name that mentor before you pay
Their degree, their specialty and their department, told to you on the call. You decide whether that is the right person for your topic before any money changes hands.
If we do not have the right person, we say so
We do not substitute someone from a neighbouring field and leave you to discover it in the third month. If nobody on the register fits your topic, we tell you plainly, and we tell you if that changes.

You keep the same mentor from topic feasibility through to viva preparation. If that ever has to change — a mentor leaves a department, a topic turns out to belong in another field — you are told why before it happens, not after.

Phase by phase

What the doctor does, and what the editor does

The seven phases your tracker groups its fifteen stages into. A mentor decides and reviews; an editor guides and edits under that direction. Neither of them is the author.

Onboarding	Reads your course, your university's ordinance or your board's rules and your session dates, then states plainly what your thesis has to satisfy and by when.	Sets the document up in your university's or NBEMS format from the first page, so nothing has to be rebuilt at the end.
Topic & synopsis	Tests topics against what you can actually collect — your OPD volume, records access and the months you have left — then fixes the design, the sample size and the variables.	Guides your synopsis or protocol section by section and formats it, with Vancouver references and a proforma your department can use.
Ethics & data	Prepares you for the ethics committee, reviews the proforma and the consent documents, and helps you answer the committee's queries when they come back.	Builds the master chart and keeps the dataset anonymised. No patient identifiers are accepted into our systems at any point.
Analysis	Chooses the tests, checks the assumptions behind them, reads the output with you and decides what the data can and cannot claim.	Checks that your results text matches the tables exactly, with nothing added.
Writing	Directs each chapter, names the literature your field expects to see cited, and marks what is missing rather than rewriting it for you.	Gives section-by-section guidance to that direction, then reviews, restructures and edits each chapter you write.
Review & revisions	Comments pinned to the page inside the draft, so you can see what to change and where. Then re-reads the revision. On the Thesis service, revisions continue until your guide signs off.	Edits each revision and keeps references, tables and formatting consistent across every version.
Final & delivery	Takes you through the questions examiners in your specialty are likely to ask, chapter by chapter, before the viva.	Final formatting, and a word-level similarity report on the final draft, read against the UGC 2018 convention of under 10 per cent.

Scientific editors

What a scientific editor does, and what they never do

This is the question that decides whether a service like ours is legitimate, so it is answered here rather than buried in the terms.

A scientific editor reviews, restructures and edits the drafts you write, to your mentor's direction, with section-by-section guidance before you begin each one. Every edit comes back to you before it goes anywhere. You read it, change it and approve it. Your name is the only one that appears on the thesis, and that is the whole point of the arrangement.

What they bring is the craft that costs residents weeks and teaches them very little: Vancouver and ICMJE referencing done consistently, the structure examiners read for, tables and figures that match the numbers, and your university's or NBEMS formatting applied from the first page instead of the last week.

An editor on this panel will not

Invent, alter or supply data. Anonymised datasets only, and none of it comes from us.
Write your thesis for you, or change your text without your reading and approving it.
Correspond with your guide, your department or your university on your behalf.
